Résumé

What do you mean it's fallen down? Unfortunately Victoria Schofield's frantic phonecall to her husband was true: their three-storey Victorian house in West London had collapsed, a victim of the underpinning designed to make the house more stable. This is the humorous diary of the disaster.

The House That Fell Down Résumé

The House That Fell Down: A Diary of Domestic Disaster Victoria Schofield

When Victoria Schofield's three-storey Victorian house in leafy West London collapsed several years ago it made the front page of many newspapers. This witty diary of the ensuing torment of rebuilding, pulling down, and rebuilding again is an eye-opener. No one who reads this wry and often hilarious account is ever likely to say 'safe as houses' again.

À propos de Victoria Schofield

Apart from her recently acquired expertise in house-building, her specialist interest is South Asia, and she is writing a biography of Earl Wavell.
