The encyclopedia, on statistical methodolgy and applications, covers research theory and practical applications in virtually every field. It is designed to help specialists avoid duplication of research and to help statistics users in every field understand the advantages, caveats, and techniques of numerous statistical methods. There have been many new advances and developments in statistics since the publication of Volume 1 in 1982. The purpose of thsi Supplement is to report on these events with full, detailed entries. In this way, the Supplement updates the original set with new information, complete with references and cross- references, as in all previous volumes. In addition, the cumulative index which appears in Volume 9 is updated to include all new material in the Supplement, and therefore comprises a thoroughly integrated index for the entire set. The volume will be of use to librarians, everyone who uses statistics, statisticians, mathematicians, business administrators, chemists, all engineers and physicians.
