Born in 1870, Saki began his career with political sketches for the Westminster Gazette and then as foreign correspondent for the Morning Post in the Balkans, Russia and Paris. His short story collections include Reginald, Reginald in Russia, The Unbearable Bassington, The Chronicles of Clovis, and Beasts and Superbeasts.
