The discovery of new diseases and improved methods of diagnosis necessitated production of this greatly expanded and updated version of a classic handbook. The book covers the culture, anatomy and husbandry of salmonids, infectious diseases and diagnosis on the farm, diseases of eggs, sac-fry, early geeding, growers and marine culture, nutritional diseases, fish kills, diseases of wild fish and brood stock, prevention and treatment. The fist edition was successful because it did not presuppose any prior knowledge of fish biology or pathology and used common names where they would not cause confusion. It was valuable to fish breeders, proved a unique reference source for scientists and was a recommended test for students at many levels.
