Any waste not properly dealt with is potentially threatening, yet industry and state seem to collude recklessly in its production. He looks at specific sites, affected individuals and hushed-up instances from the toxic hot spots of Britain and Ireland. He also examines some of the successful campaigns that have been staged against ill-considered dumping grounds.
