A Spy's Devotion Résumé

A Spy's Devotion Melanie Dickerson

In England's Regency era, manners and elegance reign in public life-but behind closed doors treason and deception thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or bloody barbarity. After suffering a battlefield injury, the wealthy, well-connected British officer returns home to heal-and to fulfill a dying soldier's last wish by delivering his coded diary. At the home of the Wilherns, one of England's most powerful families, Langdon attends a lavish ball where he meets their beautiful and intelligent ward, Julia Grey. Determined to maintain propriety, he keeps his distance-until the diary is stolen and all clues lead to Julia's guardian. As Langdon traces an evil plot that could be the nation's undoing, he grows ever more intrigued by the lovely young woman. And when Julia realizes that England-and the man she is falling in love with-need her help, she finds herself caught in the fray. Will the two succumb to their attraction while fighting to save their country?

In A Spy's Devotion, Melanie Dickerson has achieved the perfect blend of history, suspense, and the all-important romance! With shades of Sense and Sensibility hovering around the edges, Melanie Dickerson brandishes a Regency quill with excellence. Vivid characters bring the exquisite setting to life and establish attachments with the reader that guarantee an avid following for the series. -Carrie Schmidt, Reading is My Superpower blog The story between Nicholas and Julia will capture you from the beginning and through every page as they face pain, betrayal, life-changing decisions as God works in their lives for His greater good. This is definitely a must read. -Karen Hadley, KarensKrayons blog I enjoyed not only the light romantic story, but the mystery of the spying with historical facts throughout. The end result, Melanie Dickerson hits the high notes again. This book is another 'must buy' book. -Martha Artyomenko, Homeschooling4boyz blog Fans of Ms. Dickerson's work will find this well woven tale filled with mystery and clean romance, seasoned with faith elements that are not preachy, but relevant. Teens and adults alike will find hints of Austen in some of the characters that will make the story comfortable for fans of regency romance. -Stacey Jones, Down in the Hollow blog This was a fabulous Regency novel. I loved the mystery and suspense. The characters were very well done. I loved, simply loved, that Julia mentioned she wanted to marry someone she loved AND respected!
