Twelve-year-old Jake Berman lives with his mum and stepfather in Tanzania. He's thrilled to be going to a chimp conservation area in Uganda. Shocked by the sound of gunshots on his first night, however, he discovers that the jungle is more dangerous than he had thought. He finds the site of a bushmeat massacre, where local hunters have slaughtered chimps and taken their babies for the illegal pet trade.
