This is a review of current knowledge concerning the mental health aspects of HIV disease. It gives a detailed and critical overview of the psychosocial and neuropsychiatric problems seen in HIV disease, and covers the relevant practical assessment and management issues and ethical and legal problems that arise for carers. It is concerned throughout with clinical problems rather than with basic research.
