Set in the tobacco-growing country of Pennsylvania, this focuses on two women, Andrea Doria and her dominant mother. Andrea describes how when her mother has a stroke and loses the power to reinvent reality according to her own ideas, she rescues her mother and in so doing, rescues herself.
