Résumé

The second StoryWorld novel set in the glamorous, pressurized world of a live London TV station.

Behind Her Back Résumé

Behind Her Back Jane Lythell

In a TV station run by men, how do the women make themselves heard?

Liz Lyon is a television producer at StoryWorld, the UK's favourite morning show. Her job is stressful and demanding, but she is determined to show her teenage daughter that women can succeed.

Then a new female colleague joins the station. In this predatory climate of toxic masculinity Liz and Lori should be helping each other. But when Lori starts secretly building her power base with the bosses, Liz is desperate to know what's going on behind her back...

Behind Her Back Avis

'Engrossing and compelling insight into rivalry and backstabbing at a TV station. I loved it' Kerry Fisher.
'Lythell is an intelligent writer who has produced a book that taps into the issues that affect society, the home and the work place ... Well-observed, well-written, engaging and with a good balance of humour, sadness, tension and resolution' Bibliomaniac.
'I wish I'd discovered Liz Lyon sooner and I really wish I'd discovered Jane Lythell's excellent writing rather earlier too' Being Anne.
'Dramatic, eye-opening, and extremely realistic ... Intriguing and most certainly different; Jane Lythell has left me wanting more' The Writing Garnet.
'A cleverly paced and well-written story ... another dynamic story from an author who has fast become one of my favourite go-to authors' Books of All Kinds.
'Once again Jane Lythell has written an absorbing, current and engaging story that just hooked me in with enough drama and tension of another day at the office' Reflections of a Reader.
'Packed with drama and tension, yet for me it was a return to the pure escapism of a world I know absolutely nothing about' Swirl and Thread.
'Gripping ... The writing and plotting is superb [making it] a hugely satisfying reading experience' Liz Loves Books.
'An easy to read, enjoyable book and one of its strengths is the strong female lead character [...] that many women will be able to identify with' Portobello Book Blog.
'Gives such a rare insight into the world of television ... Lythell is a wonderfully perceptive writer and it's a refreshing change to read a novel where the female protagonist is predominantly based in the workplace having to strike the delicate work/home balance that so many women deal with in today's society' The Haphazardous Hippo.
'If you like to see how life unfolds with ups and downs and get a little peek at the inner workings of the entertainment section of a TV station, you'll enjoy this novel, it feels all too realistic' The Belgian Reviewer.
'Explosive ... Jane Lythell hits the right note again with this follow-up novel and one I highly recommend' The Last Word Book Review.
'Liz is the kind of female role model that we need to see in fiction - realistic and charming, and successful without being a bitch, a trait that is all too often portrayed in successful women in modern literature. A very refreshing change' Jen Med's Book Reviews.
'A fast-paced novel which makes for compelling reading as Liz Lyons juggles her hectic work schedule and her home life with daughter Flo' The Haphazardous Hippo.
'Full of humour and conflict, this is a lovely story and one I really enjoyed' Rachel's Random Reads.
'A fascinating fictional look at what goes on behind the scenes of the entertainment world' My Weekly.
'Jane Lythell draws on her years of working in in the glamourous, pressurized world of live TV to augment her genuine flair for narrative storytelling. An impressively engaging and entertaining read from first page to last' Reviewer's Bookwatch.
