Fonn's Duthchas Land and Legacy is a very special travelling exhibition for 2007 - The Year of Highland Culture. The full exhibition will start in Inverness in January and travel to Glasgow (April), Edinburgh (June) and Stornoway (September). A smaller version will then visit other venues in the Highlands and Islands. The book will have a catalogue of items from the exhibition and a narrative (in Gaelic and in English) by well-known writer and historian James Hunter. The topics covered include: land ownership issues; war; religion; clans and clearances; sport and leisure; Gaelic and the oral tradition; the landscape; the Highlands and Islands today, including current environmental issues, and recent population increases.

À propos de James Hunter

Professor James Hunter is Director for the University of the Highlands and Islands Centre for History, and a freelance historian and author. He has written many articles and books on Highlands and Islands themes including The Making of the Crofting Community ('Magnificent, marvellously comprehensive, just and profound.' Sorley MacLean, Times Literary Supplement), and A Dance Called America ('I found this book quite simply fascinating and engrossing. I read it quite compulsively.' Joe Farrell, BBC Radio 3).
