5 TIPS FOR IOS7 ON YOUR IPAD
1. Get "Today" In Order
The new Today screen in iOS 7 presents a summary of your daily schedule when you swipe down from the top edge of the iPad's screen. If you want to change what you see there, say, to hide your Reminders to the list or show a sneak peek of tomorrow, just tap Settings > Notification Center and make adjustments in the Today View area.
2. Take Control of Common Settings
Swiping down from the top of the iPad's screen brings the Today screen and a list of your other notifications and alerts, but swiping up from the bottom of the screen summons the Control Center in iOS 7. Here, you can quickly get to a set of music playback controls, turn on the iPad's networking functions, call up the camera, turn on the new AirDrop feature so you can beam photos to other iOS 7 users, or even get to the AirPlay settings for streaming videos to your Apple TV. But if you find the Control Center pops up to easily when you accidentally brush the bottom edge of the screen during a game or presentation, you can restrict it to appearing only on the Home screen. Just tap Settings > Control Center > Access Within Apps > Off.
3. Play With Pictures
You can do even more with your pictures on the iPad in iOS 7. The new Camera app now offers the ability to shoot in the high dynamic range mode to create photos with a wider array of light and dark tones within the same image--which makes for pictures where you can see more detail within the shot. You can also snap photos in the Instagram-inspired square format. And what's a square-cropped photo without a fancy filter? Just open a picture in the Photos app, tap the edit button and then tap the Filters icon to see nine different effects you can apply to the image.
