Henry Moore Résumé

Henry Moore Herbert Read

This classic text by Sir Herbert Read was first published in 1965 and, until this printing, has been unavailable for decades. Sir Herbert had written the first book on Henry Moore in 1934 and, in close collaboration with the sculptor himself, he was able to trace in this volume Moore's emergence as one of the greatest artists of modern times. The book is now republished without revision as a key document for our understanding and enjoyment of Henry Moore's creative achievement.

Henry Moore Avis

''Celebrates a friendship of many years' standing and may be considered the definitive statement ' - The Sunday Times
'An intimate portrait of the sculptor ... scholarly and analytical ' - The New York Times
'Superb ... the searching illuminations of Moore's art would be impossible to better: the combined product of an author who has known Moore over many years, and the latter, who, as Read puts it, rightly, is himself the best photographer of his sculpture ' - The Artist
'This coming together of Henry Moore and Herbert Read is one of the outstanding illuminating events in the history of art' - BBC European Service
