Dick Dudgeon is the Devil's Disciple, a tearaway, the black sheep of his self-righteous Puritan family. It is 1777 and the American Civil war is at its height. When Dick is trapped in the house of a rebel leader, the British mistake him for the leader and Dick is sentenced to death.
