Sasha feels that she is captive in a life which no longer satisfies her. Her children are critical, her husband unsupportive, and she is bored and unfulfilled. So, with two good women friends, she escapes to darkest Peru, to take on the challenge of a lifetime - to walk the Inca Trail. Amongst the grandeur of the mountains, and the glorious ancient civilisation of the Incas, she discovers that she can grab hold of her life and wrench it back before it's too late. She embarks upon a love affair which takes her completely by surprise; she also finds disaster and the sound of her own laughter once more.
