To Russia With Love Résumé

To Russia With Love: Changing the Lives of Abandoned Children Debbie Deegan

This is the incredible story of how one woman's determination led her to overcome obstacles ranging from the scepticism of 'Celtic Tiger'-era Ireland to the intricacies of soviet-style bureaucracy, and the threat of violence from international criminals to fulfil a promise and to improve the lives of vulnerable children. What started off in 1998 when Debbie Deegan promised a child that she would come back to hug and kiss them has grown into a successful charity doing life-changing work with thousands of orphaned and abandoned children across the Russian Federation! Buildings have been rebuilt, care and education programs developed, staff hired and children loved! To Russia with Love has helped over 5,000 abandoned and orphaned children in the Bryansk region of Western Russia and further across the Russian Federation through education and development programs. Every one of the young people leaving the orphanage since 2007 has accessed further education and are living in accommodation supported by To Russia With Love.
