About J. Bunyan

John Bunyan (1628-1688) was born in Elstow, England, and enjoyed decades of success as a writer and preacher. He was imprisoned more than a decade for preaching without a license, and it was in prison that he began and finished Pilgrim's Progress, one of the most famous allegories ever written. A Puritan, Bunyan also wrote three other influential works: The Life and Death of Mr. Badman (1680); The Holy War (1682); and Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners (1666). His grave is at Bunhill Fields, in London.
