About Glen G. Gilbert

Dr. Glen Gilbert is currently Professor and Dean of the College of Health & Human Performance at East Carolina University. He has taught University-level methods and strategies courses for over 15 years and has conducted in-service and consulting programs throughout the United States. He went on leave from his university post for two years to serve as Director of the School Health Initiative for the U.S. Public Health Service and worked with most states and federal agencies in seeking to plan and achieve the Health Objectives for the Nation. As a former secondary teacher, school teacher, and community health educator he can relate to the real-world needs of health educators. He has authored over 70 professional publications and has taught at East Carolina University, the University of Maryland, Portland State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and the Ohio State University. He has been a department Chair at three Universities and served as interim Vice Chancellor of Research and Graduate Studies at ECU. He has been a health educator for over thirty years. Dr. Sawyer is currently an Associate Professor and Associate Chairperson in the Department of Public & Community Health at the University of Maryland, teaching courses in human sexuality, and adolescent health. A native of Great Britain, Robin earned his bachelor's degrees from the University of London and George Mason University, Master's from the University of Virginia and doctorate from the University of Maryland. His areas of research interest include college student contraceptive compliance, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS education and date rape. He has received 13 national and international film awards for developing sexuality-related media, and received numerous university teaching awards. Dr. Sawyer has published extensively and is a nationally known speaker having made over 450 presentations at schools, colleges and universities throughout the United States. Dr. Sawyer's teaching has gained national attention in the Washington Post and most recently he has appeared on the Today Show, the Tyra Banks Show and as a consultant for MTV. Elisa Beth McNeill is an Associate Instructional Professor of Pedagogy with the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A & M University. She serves as the coordinator of the Health Education Teacher Certification Program. Beth is a 20 year veteran of public school teaching working with middle school, high school, and at-risk pregnant and parenting adolescents. She earned her masters degree and principals certification in Educational Administration. Beth is known for her innovative instruction, she teaches courses in human sexuality, elementary and secondary school health, secondary teaching, community and school health methodology and first aid. Beth has presented at state, regional, and national conferences with multiple publications. She earned her doctoral degree at Texas A & M University.
