Conceiving Conception: The Workbook Summary

Conceiving Conception: The Workbook: The New Psychological Approach to Unlocking the Baby in You by Dr Louise Goddard-Crawley

The New Psychological Approach to Unlocking the Baby in You This Conceiving Conception Workbook offers infertility therapy to those who are either suffering with unexplained infertility, miscarriage, IVF failures or are in need of IVF support. Infertility affects as many as 1 in 7 couples worldwide. Increasingly, solutions are sought in nutrition, reducing stress, eliminating harmful toxins, charting ovulation and, for many couples, artificial reproductive techniques like IVF and hormone treatments. But if the effects of infertility are deeply psychological and emotional, couldn't the causes be, too? Psychologist Dr Louise Goddard-Crawley has spent her career counselling women and couples experiencing unexplained infertility, and she has found that most solutions neglect one of the most powerful parts of the body: the mind. From past beliefs that it's 'wrong' to get pregnant to trauma from your own childhood and undiscovered anxieties surrounding childbirth and parenthood, she advocates a radical, therapy-based solution to fertility problems that delves into the subconscious. This workbook looks at what might be holding you back from getting the very thing you desire the most.... a baby, and helps you change the deeply subconscious attitudes you have towards conception. Warm, supportive, and without blame; just like a personal counselling session, this workbook provides you with real-world therapeutic techniques tailored to you - just like having a therapist with you.

About Dr Louise Goddard-Crawley

Dr Louise Goddard-Crawley is a chartered psychologist with over 20 years' experience working as a health professional. With a special interest in the psychology of health, Louise works from her private practise in Marylebone seeing a varied range of mental health presentations. Louise works with a number of women, men and couples who have been affected by infertility and miscarriage. Her focus on fertility stems from her experience with a leading London fertility clinic, where she worked as the deputy nurse manager for a decade. It is this unique marriage of her experience at the clinic coupled with her psychology training that has led to this book. Louise completed her first degree in Health & Human Sciences in 1994, where she qualified as a nurse. She worked as a nurse in a variety of settings, spending a number of years working in A&E. Very much like the essence of the book, she then focused her attention from the physical towards the psychological and undertook an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Liverpool University in 2004. She later completed her master's degree in Health Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University prior to undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London. If you've experienced difficulty in becoming pregnant or maintaining your pregnancy, Louise's new psychological approach could well hold the key to unblocking your unconscious and bringing you closer to the baby you so strongly desire.
