Economics Reviews

'Very good text for undergraduates, HND and non-specialists. Concise chapters, useful case studies and excercises. I also like the links to the useful websites.' - L.J.Bussell, University of Teesside 'This book represents the perfect background text for those students with little or no prior knowledge of economics.' - Dr H.W Mackenstein, University of Wales 'This is a first class achievement. Non specialists are provided with a clear route to the heart of the major economic debates. Concepts are clearly explained and techniques are presented in a straightforwardly friendly way. The authors do not compromise the standard of their argument for the sake of simplicity. Non specialist readers will find themselves readily understanding a number of the significant issues at the frontiers of this subject.' - Professor Peter Jackson, Leicester University 'A good read, written in an interactive and lively style which is genuinely student friendly, engaging the readers straight away and sustaining interest throughout. I particularly like the way in which the writing style reflects the nature of discourse of the discipline providing an analytical rather than descriptive approach. Many introductory books tend to 'list points' and 'tell' the reader. This book does neither of these, instead making the study of economics more of a voyage of discovery and establishing 'a need to know'; through its method of establishing that there are problems to be addressed which require an understanding of economics.' - Jean Barclay, Sheffield Hallam University
