"A-Level Law in Action", now in its second edition, offers a student-centred approach to the study of law. The text is carefully structured and approachably written to emphasise active learning and encourage discussion. The first section leads students to examine how the law and the legal system work and their role in society. The central section includes crime, tort and contract in depth. The third section stimulates learning through legal problems in the key contexts of the marketplace and employment.The first edition of this book was said to stand out among its competitors as 'a text which not only meets the expectations of lecturers, but also appeals to students'. It was described as an 'accessible, approachable book which deals with the fundamentals of English law succinctly and accurately'. The new edition has been fully updated and expanded to cover changes in the syllabuses of all the examination boards, in particular the sections on police and arrest.

About Brenda Mothersole

BRENDA MOTHERSOLE has lectured in Law and English for many years in colleges of Higher and Further Education. She has represented the Association of Law Teachers on the GCE Law Advisory Panel for the University of London Examinations and Assessment Council and is currently a legal information specialist for an employee advisory resource. ANN RIDLEY has taught Law in Further and Higher education since 1981, and has extensive experience as an A Level examiner. She is currently Head of Department of Accounting and Management Science at the University of Portsmouth and has published articles in a number of academic journals.
