Louise Joyner has a background in geology and is a Fellow of the Geological Society. She has worked in Archaeological science at the Fitch Laboratory, British School, at Athens, Greece, the Department of Archaeology and Prehistory, University of Sheffield, and is currently at the Department of Scientific Research, the British Museum, London, UK. A Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, she has a Diploma in Gemmology and was awarded the Anderson-Bank prize is 2000. Her research interests include gemmology, lithics, ancient pigments, ceramics, plasters and mudbricks.
