1760. No Edition Stated. 350 pages. Brown leather with gilt lettering and tooling to spine. Tooled edges. Full text: Life of Milton (lxx), books 1-12, unpaginated index. With engraved frontispiece, and engraving at start of each section by Hayman and Muller ('Miller' on frontis). Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Tears to index page at the rear. Hinges are cracked, with some exposed netting and a loose binding. Occasional small stains, torn or dog-eared corners, but text remains legible. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little peeled. Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Splitting to spine joints and ends. Loss to head band, large chips to spine foot. Mild liquid markings in addition to decorative spotting.
