How Big is Our Baby? Zusammenfassung

How Big is Our Baby?: A 9-month guide for soon-to-be siblings Smriti Prasadam-Halls

When a new baby is on the way, siblings-to-be have lots of feelings and plenty of questions. But whether they're impatient, curious or a little worried, this friendly and reassuring guide explains each step of the pregnancy journey and helps little ones feel involved and excited. With a month-by-month approach that compares the size of the growing baby to something familiar to the young reader, such as a speck of sand at the seaside or an egg, readers also find out about how Baby is developing, from when the heart might first beat to when they'll be able to feel it kick. The book also includes information about how life might change once Baby arrives, and how exciting it will be to have a new baby brother or sister.

How Big is Our Baby? Bewertungen

This marvellous non-fiction book, aimed at soon-to-be siblings, charts the month-by-month development of an unborn baby in the womb. Children will learn that in the first month, their sibling is the same size as a grain of sand, while by month three, they have grown to the size of an egg and developed fingers and toes. By the ninth and final month, Baby is the size of a watermelon and ready to be born.
Introducing correct terminology, such as pregnancy and foetus, the book presents age-appropriate information which will prompt discussions with parents. It effectively explores a range of emotions, from the excitement and impatience of waiting for the new arrival, to potential anxieties, such as having to share their home, family and toys. By putting the child at the centre of the adventure as a new big brother or sister, it encourages them to play an active role in the baby's life prior to its birth.
Warm, cheerful illustrations depict different genders, ethnicities and family set-ups, giving it broad appeal. This informative and reassuring picture book would make the perfect gift for any child preparing to welcome a new baby into the family.
