When an intergalactic crash kills 1200 passengers, four teenagers are left to cope with a small child and a baby in the emotional pressure-cooker of Life Ferry B. They are getting closer to Jupiter and must try to land on Ganymede but there is a mysterious presence on board. It seems to be guiding them to safety but the rescue team on Ganymede believe it is an alien life form. This author was shortlisted for The Observer Teenage Fiction Award in 1985 and 1986 and the Carnegie Medal. She was also commended for the Friends of the Earth Earthworm Award of 1987.
