Chamonix to Zermatt Zusammenfassung

Chamonix to Zermatt: The Walker's Haute Route Kev Reynolds

From Chamonix to Zermatt, and Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn - in two weeks of mountain travel you will see the greatest collection of 4000 metre peaks in the Alps and visit some of the most spectacular valleys. You will discover delightful villages and remote hamlets, wander flower meadows and forests, skirt exquisite tarns that turn mountains on their heads, and clamber beside glaciers. The way intrudes on lonely stone-filled corries, with marmots along the boulders and ibex on the heights, and provides a surprise around every corner. The route is more than 180 kilometres long. It crosses 11 passes, gains more than 12,000 metres in height and is a strong contender for the title of Most Beautiful Walk in Europe. This new edition has been thoroughly updated, and now includes the exciting two-day Europaweg - a true high-level path that carries the Haute Route way above the Mattertal and into Zermatt - a worthy conclusion to a great trek.

Chamonix to Zermatt Bewertungen

'The Walker's Haute Route, as described in this book, never quite reaches three thousand metres on any of its passes, it requires no technical mountaineering skills, avoids the vast majority of the glaciers which skiers slide across, but offers some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Europe. ... Kev Reynolds knows these areas well. He's walked them for years and yet always manages to bring a freshness and vitality to his writing, a rare thing amongst modern guidebook writers.' (Cameron McNeish, TGO) 'This new book by Kev Reynolds describes the least hazardous of the high routes. Although this route is for those who are accustomed to mountain walking, actual mountaineering skills are not really necessary. The book is filled with masses of information and sketch maps, and illustrated by a good selection of photos.' (Austrian Alpine Club Newsletter)

Über Kev Reynolds

A lifelong passion for the countryside in general, and mountains in particular, drives Kev's desire to share his sense of wonder and delight in the natural world through his writing, guiding, photography and lecturing. Spending several months each year among various high mountain regions researching guidebooks, makes him The Man with the World's Best Job; a title he aims to keep by remaining active for another 100 years at least. Kev has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Cicerone since the 1970s, producing walking and trekking guides to the Pyrenees, Alps and Himalaya, as well as walking guides for Kent, Sussex and the Cotswolds and he has several more books in the pipeline. A frequent contributor to outdoor magazines, he also writes and illustrates brochures for national tourist authorities and travel companies. When not away in the mountains, Kev lives with his wife in a small cottage among what he calls 'the Kentish Alps' with unrestricted walking country on the doorstep. But he also travels throughout Britain during the winter months to share his love of the places he writes about through a series of lectures. Check him out on www.kevreynolds.co.uk
