Little Evie in the Wild Wood Zusammenfassung

Little Evie in the Wild Wood Jackie Morris

Little Evie ventures into the wild woods with her basket of jam tarts and walks further and further into the trees, far from home. In a deep dark cave she finds - a huge wolf. The wolf comes closer and closer and then - Evie and the wolf share the tarts, sitting on the grass. Afterwards the wolf gives Evie a ride home on his back. This picture book is a powerful combination of menace and beauty, with the sensual surroundings of the woods and the wild creatures who live there.

Little Evie in the Wild Wood Bewertungen

'Jackie Morris has written a lyrical and haunting text to accompany Catherine Hyde's mystical illustrations.'

'A stunningly illustrated modern-day fairy tale. . . The darkly evocative illustrations leave plenty of scope for the imagination and the poetic language combines perfectly with the illustrations by Catherine Hyde to create a little masterpiece which depicts both beauty and dark mystery.'

'It's not so much the story, but the manner of the telling that is so striking. Its lyrical, powerfully atmospheric, eerie haunting quality draws you right in from the start, creating an air of wonder and mystery. Visually wonderful too. . . Truly, a book to enchant young and old alike.'

'Deliciously deep, dark and dreamy. This is one of those picture books that is possibly too damn exquisite for mere children.'

'Catherine Hyde's dark, brooding style of painting perfectly complements Jackie Morris' poetic prose, both evoking the shadowy world of the Wild Wood. . . A gorgeous book that I'm sure many children will treasure for years and years.'
