This is a journey through the largely inaccessible mountains of the moon in Central Africa, famous for gorillas, the source of the Nile, extraordinary vegetation and foul weather. The author, a World Wildlife Fund officer campaigning to have the area made a national park, was accompanied by a botanical artist from Kew who has produced stunning paintings of the plant life.
