Aerial Creatures was Paul Nash's own title for the works he produced as an official war artist for the English army during WW II. This book marks the 50th anniversary of Nash's death in 1946. It thoroughly examines nearly all of his WW II work in the context of concerns which were prevalent throughout his career - invasion, drowning and his lifelong preoccupation with flight. Charles Hall's accompanying essay reveals that these works contain underlying messages more powerful than mere reportage or propaganda.
