Gardener's World began in 1969 and is the BBC's longest running gardening programme. Under a series of hosts it has slowly but surely captured generations of new gardeners and, with today's explosion of interest in instant gardening, has a stabilising effect, bringing true gardening information to gardeners and not just quick-fix makeovers. One of the most popular parts of the programme in recent years has been 'Flower of the Moment' and these have now been encapsulated into this beautifully illustrated book. Introduced by Gardener's World's current host, Alan Titchmarsh, it looks at 100 easy to grow plants, each flowering or giving interest in a specific month of the year. Indepth descriptions are given by Louise Hampden, part of the Gardener's World team, and the whole book is expertly pulled together by editor and series producer Colette Foster. The book ends with a month-by-month index to flowering plants, listed by colour, and giving basic cultivation requirements to ensure the reader finds a plant suitable for their needs and in the colour spectrum required. This is an invaluable guide for either beginners or those just seeking gap fillers in a border to prolong a season. All the plants are easy to grow and readily available and, of course, come with the endorsement of one of Britain's best gardening institutions - Gardener's World.
