Simon Millar was born in Malaya in 1957 and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. He went to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1977, was commissioned into the 17th/21st Lancers and in 1984 transferred to the Irish Guards. He retired as a Major in 1994. Since leaving the army he has worked in the Houses of Parliament and been a project manager. He has always had an interest in military history and is widely read, with a particular interest in the Seven Years War, the Peninsular War and the African and Italian campaigns of WWII. He is married with three sons and lives near Shaftesbury in Dorset. Adam Hook studied graphic design, and began his work as an illustrator in 1983. He specialises in detailed historical reconstructions, and has illustrated Osprey titles on the Aztecs, the Greeks, the American Civil War and the American Revolution. His work features in exhibitions and publications throughout the world.
