After humble beginnings on the radio as The Lazy Gardener', Don Burke launched his television career with Burke's Backyard, a gardening program he devised and produced with his wife Marea. It went on to become a mega-ratings hit and kick-started the immensely popular trend for Australian lifestyle shows. Not only does it continue to attract huge audiences, there is also a top-selling Burke's Backyard magazine and award-winning website. Don and Marea Burke started work on their indigenous garden on the outskirts of Sydney in 1984.
