The God Dependent Life by Joanie Yoder
This is the autobiography of Joanie Yoder. Living in Geneva with her missionary husband and two daughters Joanie seemed to have a near perfect life. But a legacy of miscarriages and an infant death had left their mark and Joanie was left living on a diet of tranquillisers. For a long time she had been relying on the strength of her husband Bill to the extent that she could not contemplate life without him. Through a series of disciplines which included Bible reading, prayer, trust and obedience she learned to recognise her own helplessness and allow God to become actively responsible for her well-being. No longer afraid to go outside she began to help others to reach God via a series of neighbourhood Bible studies. After a move to Britain, she used her drug experiences to reach out to many young addicts living on the streets of London - a ministry that led to the purchase of Yeldall Manor, a Christian centre for rehabillitation. Joanie Yoder was married to Bill for 26 years and has been widowed since 1982. She is the author of "Got Any Bread" which she wrote jointly with her husband.
