From New Recruit to High Flyer Summary

From New Recruit to High Flyer: No-Nonsense Advice on How to Fast Track your Career by Hugh Karseras

From New Recruit to High Flyer is not just about how to get by in a career, but how to become one of the rising stars in an organization. Not only will it help anyone to become viewed as a highflyer, it will also help them to achieve greater job satisfaction, higher pay and faster promotion. Hard-hitting and realistic, From New Recruit to High Flyer reveals the views of Harvard Business School graduates and other top executives on how to succeed on the first rung of the career ladder. It is based on a survey of 200 successful executives who were strong performers when they were on the first rung, and have gone on to continued rapid promotion or to new positions at some of the most selective companies in the world. Throughout this book, they share their thoughts on what made them and those around them successful. They provide real-life examples from their own experiences on what made the difference for them and also share their perspectives on why their colleagues, who were often equally as capable, were less successful. Key topics discussed include: developing the right attitude, mastering the fundamental skills of research, analysis, communication, project and people management, and managing networks, mentors and office politics.
