An introduction to the foundations of nursing as studied by all nursing students in the first 18 months of their training. The textbook enables the student to develop real understanding of the subject areas and issues covered in the Common Foundation Programme and, through a range of engaging learning activities, to apply this knowledge to professional practice. It covers a wide variety of care issues across the age spectrum in a range of different care settings, placing the practice of nursing in its social and political context.
