Richard Pelzer saw firsthand the abuse the child they called 'It' endured. Richard himself was often Dave's tormentor in order to stay on the good side of their mother. But when Dave was taken away from home and put into foster care after his abuse was reported to the police, Richard became the new 'It'. He grew up not only suffering horrendous abuse himself but also wracked with guilt over his treatment of his brother. This is a harrowing tale, but also a story of courage, as Richard also escapes his tormentor and manages to rebuild his life. In later years the two brothers were reunited and are now on good terms.
