Philip's University Atlas Summary

Philip's University Atlas is a brand-new atlas designed specifically for students of geography, studying at upper secondary to university level. The atlas begins with a 48-page British Isles section, featuring digital physically coloured maps at the scale of 1:1 million. Accompanying the physical maps are thematic maps on geology, climate and population, plus detailed maps of the administrative regions. A special feature of the atlas is the index which comes immediately after this section, devoted specifically to the British Isles mapping. The middle section is made up of 128 pages of digital World topographical maps, which are indexed at the rear of the book, followed by a highly-illustrated 16-page Satellite Imagery section examining, for example, the uses of remote sensing and GIS in mineral exploration and weather monitoring.A 64-page World thematic map section completes the atlas, including continental thematics on climate, vegetation, population, wealth and standards of living. Both the 96-page World index and the British Isles index include letter-figure references as well as latitude and longitude co-ordinates, and list cities, towns, villages and geographical features.Philip's University Atlas is an unbeatable combination of highly detailed physical mapping backed up by numerous charts, illustrations and thematic maps.Main map scale:
