The Crusades is a supplementary text for key stage 3 of the history national curriculum, written for supplementary study unit category B. It forms a component of the Cambridge History Programme, an investigative course which provides a coherent and progressive programme of history and offers teachers practical guidance on assessment. The Crusades features enquiry-based units which pose key historical questions; a careful balance of investigation and explanation; overview sections to introduce and consolidate themes and concepts; activities ranging in difficulty and an Attainment Target matrix for pupils and teachers.
