This title, specially geared to the requirements of the GCSE syllabuses, examines the Great War, from the experiences of the soldiers in the trenches to the impact of the war on civilians working on the home front. Aspects of warfare are given coverage, including the development of modern weapons such as the tank and aircraft, and the use of gas. Emphasis is given to specific battles of the war including the Somme, Verdun, Ypres and Jutland.
