About Luis I. Reyes

LUIS I. REYES (El Montes, California) is nationally renowned as a scholar, author, archivist, and lecturer who specializes in the film history of ethnic minorities in the Hollywood film Industry. He is the author or co-author of several books on film, including Made in Paradise: Hollywood's Films of Hawaii and the South Seas, Pearl Harbor in the Movies, and most recently, The Hawaii Movie and Television Book (all co-authored with Ed Rampell); he is also the co-editor (with Peter Rubie) of Hispanics in Hollywood. JORGE RIVERO is the last of the leading men of Mexican cinema's golden age. Since making his film debut in 1964, Rivero has starred in more than 150 films in Mexico, Latin America, and Europe. Born and raised in Mexico City, the actor became the number-one box-office star in Mexican films for six years consecutively and a leading male sex symbol. Jorge appeared in American movies such as Rio Lobo with John Wayne, Soldier Blue with Candice Bergen, and The Last Hard Men with Charlton Heston and James Coburn. He has acted opposite such actresses as Isela Vega, Sasha Montenegro, and the legendary Ava Gardner. Rivero was a guest star on the epic twenty-six-hour NBC Universal Television miniseries adaptation of James H. Michener's Centennial. Jorge makes his residence in Hollywood with his wife, the former Betty Moran, a screenwriter, but maintains homes in his native Mexico. He remains active as a producer and actor on several ongoing media projects in both Mexico and the United States.
