The Little Library Cookbook Reviews

A work of rare joy, and one as wholly irresistible as the food it so delightfully describes... I could not love it more' -- Sarah Perry
A cookbook for readers -- Nigella Lawson
What a joy... If there is comfort food, there is also comfort reading, and The Little Library Cookbook is it' -- Bee Wilson

Wonderful! [Kate] takes us on a fabulous food journey. It makes me want to both cook and read more at once -- Tessa Kiros
A treat. The Little Library Cookbook has done that rare thing of sparking a chain reaction of memories - every page is a catalyst to remember some previously forgotten meal, or book, or piece of delicious nostalgia. I love it, and I can't wait to cook from it! -- Ruby Tandoh
Has great charm and is a very good read... Part of the delight is in seeing what Young has come up with... You might think such a book would simply be cute; it's much more than that' -- Diana Henry, Daily Telegraph
Perfect for any bookworm or foodie... It is the most wonderful idea, with recipes for food inspired by novels from Adichie to Zusak. Trust me, you need this in your life! A triumph' * The Halcyon Days of Summer. *
Foodie fiction fans will love The Little Library Cookbook. Delight in Narnia-style turkish delight and roast goose that will convert even the surliest Scrooge * Food Magazine. *
The ultimate present for anyone with a penchant for both books and baking * The Literary Edit *
A book to inspire a laughter-filled, themed dinner party for adults, but it is equally useful isn you want to present 'hunny' and rosemary cakes to a little reader who has just discovered the joys of Winnie the Pooh * WI Life *
The sort of cookbook you want to lounge around in bed reading, as much as cook from... A lesser book would've let its theme take over, but Kate is too good a cook for that. The recipes are well tested and easy to follow, and I have no doubt many of them are going to become firm fixtures in my culinary repertoire' * London Review of Books, cookbooks of the year *
I read every word on every page... There are some things I would like to cook but more importantly there are references to books I have read and loved. I smiled on every page. If you are a reader and a cook you should hunt out this book' * Momo - Celebrating Time to Read (online blog) *
I am completely wowed by the concept, execution and beauty of The Little Library Cookbook... [Kate] has provided a book that is just as at home on the bedside as the kitchen bench' * Hobart Mercury *
With Nigella Lawson as a fan, Kate Young is definitely on to a winner. [A] charming book * Choice magazine *
A beautifully produced book, with elegant, erudite prose * Irish Examiner *
A charming read * Waitrose Food Magazine *
A winningly photographed banquet of recipes from Roald Dahl's Roasted Pheasant in Danny the Champion of the World to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Jollof Rice in Americanah. Young, a cook and bookworm from Brisbane, writes with a keen sense of appetite. Her recipes may begin as fiction, but her methods are soundly matter-of-fact * TLS *
