About Julian Robinson

GRACIE CALVEY has worked as a fashion illustrator, journalist and artist. She lives in France.

JULIAN ROBINSON is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. He worked for fifteen years as a professional fashion designer, with his own designer label and as a consultant, working with Mary Quant, Sir Norman Hartnell, Yves Saint Laurent and Zandra Rhodes.
In 1966 he became Director of Fashion Studies at Hornsey College of Art, Middlesex University. In 1976 he emigrated to Australia to help establish degree and postgraduate fashion courses at the Sydney College of the Arts, Sydney University. He is the author of numerous books including The Brilliance of Art Deco (1987) and The Fine Art of Fashion (1989).
