Jake Hope, a leading authority on contemporary children's literature, has chosen stories from Cathy Cassidy, Maisie Chan, Joseph Coelho, AM Dassu, Anne Fine, Paul Jennings, Chitra Soundar and Elizabeth Laird; and poems from Valerie Bloom, Sita Brahmachari, Dom Conlon, Nicola Davies, Jamila Gavin, Maurice Gleitzman, CG Moore, Jackie Morris, Beverley Naidoo, RR O'Neill, Rashmi Sirdeshpande, Jordan Stephens and Benjamin Zephaniah.

The illustrators are Ruthine Burton, Chih-An Chen and Habiba Nabisubi, who have just graduated from the Pop-Up Pathways project, a national initiative sponsored by the Arts Council, that develops emerging illustrators from under-represented groups.

About Jake Hope

Jake Hope is Chair of the Working Party on Diversity and Inclusion for the Yoto Carnegie Awards, the UK's oldest and most prestigious book awards. Jake has curated exhibitions on children's literature and written articles and chapters on children's reading. He has spoken at book fairs and festivals around the globe and is passionate about libraries and reading. Jake has judged or chaired numerous awards, including the Costa Children's Fiction Prize, and has been a jury member on the Bologna Ragazzi award. He lives in Preston, Lancashire.

Ruthine Burton, Habiba Nabisubi and Chih-An Chen are recent graduates from the Pop-Up Pathways project. Pop-Up Pathways is a national initiative sponsored by the Arts Council, that develops emerging illustrators from under-represented groups.
