The End of the Game Reviews

'Superb [...] As Benedicts investigation sees her hopping ever more frenetically around Europe, her musings on the dubious ethics of her profession give the story an edge of moral ambiguity, helping to make this the thinking persons action-thriller of the season * The Telegraph *
This is clever, intriguing, fast-moving writing, with a protagonist who wont let go of a story. The final chase scene, involving a chair lift across snowy mountains, is one of the best Ive read * Observer, Thrillers of the Month *
Benedict may have more compunction than some real-life hacks, but the rare combination of ethics and thrills in this series remains potent, climaxing here atop a cable car in the Alps. You either got it or you don't, and for my money, Watt absolutely has * The Times, Book of the Month *
The End of the Game has glamour, grit and chase scenes to die for -- Sarah Hilary
The narrative crackles with Watts familiar energy as she ramps up the tension in Benedicts fourth outing. She is a determined and engaging protagonist and Watt is a talented writer -- Financial Times
I loved this smart, modern, brilliantly plotted journalistic thriller, which combines relentless action with wonderful writing. The End Of The Game brings vividly to life the adrenaline-fuelled highs and frightening lows of life as an undercover reporter. Watt's unstoppable heroine, and the shadowy worlds she navigates, are perfectly realised and terrifyingly plausible. A real triumph! -- Katherine Faulkner
Each of Holly Watt's books take you in a new direction, and this time her characters are exploring the perilous world of gambling. This is a gripping look at a fascinating world. It's wonderful to join Casey on another thrilling adventure, racing across the globe to investigate a new challenge. Addictive, exciting and impossible to put down -- Ellery Lloyd
The End of the Game is a terrific next instalment in the brilliant Casey Benedict series, and also a satisfying thriller in its own right with the perfect balance of glitz, grit and heart. As tense as it is entertaining, Holly Watt's tale combines an insider's knowledge of undercover investigations and rigorous research with a real flair for story-telling - not to mention action that canters along at a pace. I loved it, from the first page to the unexpected twist and wonderfully thoughtful ending -- Charlotte Philby
Compelling, fascinating and thrilling in equal measure. Even adrenaline junkies will have their breath taken away by the mercurial Casey Benedict -- Sarah Sultoon
In Holly Watts most powerful thriller yet, obsessive and unstoppable journalist Casey Benedict joins forces with those whose lives and careers she has wrecked, uncovering a cynical global conspiracy involving gambling and illicit data-harvesting. Fast paced, meticulously researched and skillfully told. All too believable -- Simon Conway
Praise for The Hunt and the Kill: Casey is fierce, obsessive and brilliant * Observer *
Praise for The Hunt and the Kill: In the gutsy Casey [Holly Watt] has created an unstoppable yet entirely credible modern heroine * The Times *
Praise for The Hunt and the Kill: Casey Benedict is just such a refreshing character there are so few books that focus on a strong, brave, determined woman and she is all that and more. Properly intelligent, impeccably researched and utterly gripping -- Ellery Lloyd
