Drawn in styles ranging from the crudely vulgar to the highly refined and covering every genre from naive romance to high-tech cybervisions, manga (Japanese comics) have evolved into a sophisticated narrative art. This work collects together essays on the current state of the manga universe, with illustrations, reviews of selected works and commentaries on leading Japanese artists.
