Rumours of Life Summary

Rumours of Life: Transforming Wounded People by David Runcorn

The first disciples were astonished and confused by the resurrection of Jesus, and their journey into new faith and hope was always through unexpected ways and meetings. In this book, David Runcorn brings the resurrection 'down to earth' as he interprets the strange cluster of stories describing the resurrection appearances. With only forty days to transform a broken, dispirited and unbelieving community into a living Church, Jesus did not pack every day with teaching, evangelism, counselling and leadership training. Instead he reached out to the individuals of the first resurrection community with infinite care. Grief stricken, fearful, full of doubts and prejudices and locked away from the world, they seemed an unpromising group. If Jesus so carefully and patiently pursues such improbable people, says David Runcorn, he just as surely seeks us too.
