In her Glastonbury home, a 13-year-old girl discovers the brutally-murdered bodies of her family. Chief Superintendant Laverne and DI Savage find their efforts to solve the murder hampered by the obstructive behaviour of their hosts. Meanwhile, a second family is slaughtered.
