About Michael Bauer

Michael Bauer has been a food journalist and restaurant critic for twenty years and the editor of the San Francisco Chronicle food section for almost fifteen. He studied in France and the United States with renowned chef/teacher Madeleine Kamman. His writing has appeared in many national magazines including Food & Wine. Fran Irwin has worked for the San Francisco Chronicle's food section since 1977. She was a student of the late Josephine Araldo, and has also studies with Donna Nordin, Guiliano Bugialli, Marcella Hazan and Dianna Kennedy, among others.
