Evolution, Civilisation and the Horse by Chris Moller
In a witty gallop through the ages, the artist begins 55 million years ago when Ephippus was only 12" high and regarded as a tasty snack by most of the other creatures around at the time. Cartoons follow the horse as he grows wiser, faster and larger, appears on the Parthenon Freize and lands a starring role in "The Horsemen of the Steppes". Thus, via the age of chivalry, the development of the thoroughbred, the arrival of the mail coach, the coming of the railways and the equine slump followed by the sudden elevation of the modern horse to sporting accessory and top person's status symbol.
