By the upper end of Key Stage 2 it is assumed that children will have developed competence in effective communication. However it is now recognised that many children need targeted help to develop these skills. This sourcebook covers the key areas outlined in the Spoken Language National Curriculum. It offers practitioners easy access to a range of activities that can be used in a variety of settings, eg whole class, large or small group or pairs.

About Catherine Delamain

Catherine Delamain is a retired Speech and Language Therapist with over 40 years experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs in clinics, schools, special schools and nurseries. She spent several years in association with a Senior Educational Psychologist lecturing to teachers on how to address the needs of children with SLCN in mainstream and special schools.

Jill Spring is a retired Speech and Language Therapist who has worked in a variety of paediatric settings including community clinics, assessment centres and mainstream schools. Since September 2011 she has coordinated the Speech & Language Therapy Service training programmes offered to schools across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole, and before that she worked as part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders in West Dorset.
